ABOUT
I'm Verna Reusens, a Belgian artist based in Mortsel, Antwerp. I specialise in portrait painting. My typical style is a result of a long journey of searching, exploring and experimenting. I'm influenced by the old painters and their techniques and try to incorporate them in my own world of experience and in a contemporary context. Also the old movie theaters and early photography play a role in my work.
The subtle and manyfold expressions of the face are a transposition of life and tell a story with its own psychology. This has intrigued me all my life long and by painting, I try to grasp a sparkle of that miraculous fact.
